THE PROGRAM

This is a 12 week online bootcamp that runs from March 28 – June 17, 2022. Each week, you will work independently, on your own schedule, watching video lessons and completing course assignments. You will also have an opportunity to meet with your Mentor and cohort peers during  a 1 hour live Q & A session. We anticipate you will devote, on average, 3-4 hours per week to completing the coursework.

When students are selecting their mentor, they will see each mentors’ weekly session time slot so they can select the best time for their schedule.

Your mentor will be a professional designer or garment developer working in the streetwear, fashion, or sneaker industry.

Your mentor will provide you with video feedback on your weekly assignment each week for the duration of the course and meets with you once a week on a zoom call with your cohort. Your mentor will also be available to provide guidance on the course work and to  answer your questions.

The application process requires you to complete a short survey to identify any prior design experience and includes a short written response why you want to participate in the program. There will also be an opportunity to submit a design sample and an optional  2 min video to convey your interest in the bootcamp.

It’s OK. The meetings with your mentor are not required, but students are strongly encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible to maximize their learning experience and benefit from their mentor’s industry knowledge, expertise, and insights.

This program will teach you the key skills to prepare you to cost-effectively and efficiently create a tech pack for your product so that you can capitalize on your ideas. It will be a journey through the design process from sketch to manufacturing to help you gain the knowledge needed to create your first product sample or prototype utilizing an industry standard tool.

In this bootcamp you will learn:

  • How to become better prepared to take the steps necessary to manufacture your product idea and launch a brand.
  • Information on the ins and outs of working with manufacturers to get accurate estimates from your material suppliers and manufacturers.
  • How to demonstrate the industry knowledge necessary to advance in the product development area of the fashion industry.

Upon successfully creating your projects and completing the program, you will receive a certificate of completion.

This program is intended for students who have some background knowledge of the Streetwear, Fashion, or Sneaker industry and want to explore branding products and developing the design elements necessary to bring a line to market.  The bootcamp will focus on developing the technical skills and vocabulary needed to communicate with manufacturers via product specifications.  Students should have an interest in design, understanding the technical aspects of design creation, and creating the specifications required for product manufacturing.

This program is an ideal fit for students who have previously completed the Streetwear Essentials, Fashion Industry Essentials, or Sneaker Essentials courses with Yellowbrick, FIT, and Parsons.

Students must be 18 years old to apply to the program. The bootcamp will require basic skills in sketching and knowledge of Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop skills that can be transferred to Illustrator. Students must be willing to learn basic Illustrator skills prior to program start and we recommend utilizing Illustrator online tutorials to level up your skills.

The 3 month term costs $2499.00. The first payment of $500 is due to reserve your spot and the $1999 balance is due one week before class starts.

No, scholarships are not available for the Design Accelerator bootcamp.
