Before taking the Music Industry Essentials course, Elena was looking for an opportunity to gain knowledge about the music industry and the necessary skills to start her career. Her student success results in landing a job at Universal Music Group (UMG) months after completing the course. She’s applied what she’s learned from the online course to her job while growing into an independent music producer.
This course became the foundation for my career in the music industry.
ON CHOOSING MUSIC INDUSTRY ESSENTIALS —
I wanted to get into the music industry and needed relevant knowledge and understanding of it. So when I saw the names NYU Tisch and Billboard, I thought this online course was worth taking. After reading the course description, I felt that it was something I needed, and it worked out.
ON BEING A YELLOWBRICK STUDENT —
All of the assignments are good, but all instructors were terrific and experts in what they do. Some of the assignments were pretty tricky and took me some time to complete, especially where I had to design my own recording studio! It was the most challenging task, yet the most exciting and inspiring!
ON STUDENT SUCCESS IN REAL-LIFE APPLICATION —
Once I obtained the knowledge from this course and affirmed my skills, I got a job at one of the major labels! I also became a member of the Recording Academy. So I would say this course became the foundation for my career in the music industry.
ON THE PAST & WHAT’S NEXT —
A few months later, after completing this course, I got a job at Universal Music Group and applied all that knowledge at work.
